The National Development Bank was launched by The Prime Minister of PNG, Grand Chief Sir Michael T Somare GCL GCMG CH CF KStJ, who officiated the launch of the National Development Bank on the 22 nd of June 2007 at the Madang Laiwaden Oval, Madang Province. The launch followed the passing of the National Development Bank Act by Parliament on 25 April 2007.

The launch was a Historic event that was witnessed by Ministers, Members of Parliament and the Bank clients including the ordinary people, especially farmers from all over Madang and other provinces.
